Walker Creek Music Camp – Easy Traditional Singing
April 7-10, 2017
Beautiful site in the rolling hills an hour north of San Francisco.
All ages welcome!
Want to be able to sing along at Bluegrass or Old-Time jam sessions with friends and family, but don’t know where to begin? Let’s begin at the beginning! We will work with songs from the camp songbook and maybe some additional Carter Family standards, time permitting. We will learn about “getting behind” the song, rather than performing. Class will include singing as a group, as well as solo work for one-on-one guidance in your individual needs as a singer. Do you have trouble with pitch? Timing? Breath control? Nervousness? These are all issues that can be addressed in a nurturing, supportive environment.
Prerequisites: Love of music! No serious singing experience required.
Bring: This will be an “oral tradition” singing class—no sheet music will be provided, so notebook and pen are required. Recording device and plenty of water recommended. If you play an instrument, bring it!
